Ohtani Overcomes Early Season Struggles

Shohei Ohtani appears to have put his early season struggles behind him with a stellar performance against the Diamondbacks.

Shohei Ohtani delivered a standout performance Wednesday, going 3-for-4 with two walks and a run while also pitching six shutout innings in the Dodgers' 7-0 win over the Diamondbacks. His .301/.420/.521 slash line with a 165 OPS+ is now better than all but one season he had with the Angels, and his .420 on-base percentage leads the National League.

Ohtani's only obstacle to leading the NL in both on-base percentage and ERA is innings pitched. With 61 innings to date, he needs just seven more innings to qualify for the ERA title. The Astros meanwhile dropped their series opener to the Pirates after surrendering a grand slam to catcher Henry Davis. chickenroadslot.pro
